In addition, the criminals most likely will run. Eventually they will be captured if more people adhere to safety rules.

A simple home security system set-up, equipped with a good camera, can do much in protecting your house. It would be harder to find if your belongings are stashed, and by the time, it is found they need to break the combination or lock. Carrying the safe or vault out is likely to be seen which some one will call the police.
Another way to protect your home is to have a silent alarm. While they are busy taking from your home, the cops will be on their way. While the criminals are running out, cops are surrounding the house, which means the criminals are likely to go to jail. In addition, the cops will probably be at your home before you get out of the house.
